TaxMama’s® EA Exam Newsletter – Issue 1, 2009

IRS News

At the IRS Tax Forum last week, TaxMama was at the focus group regarding IRS Tax Lien Releases where a disturbing problem was revealed by one of the CPA’s in attendance. After many participants complained that IRS computers were issuing liens even when revenue officers promised there would be no liens, the CPA told us the IRS computers were working so fast that IRS staff couldn’t get the liens blocked quickly enough. Our focus group recommended that IRS expand the time frame between lien notice and placement of lien.
