IRS or other Important News

Remember, the fee per exam has risen to $101.00 as of January 4, 2010. http://www.prometric.com/IRS/default.htm

IRS initiated a 10,000+ letter campaign ostensibly designed to ensure paid return preparers are “assisting clients appropriately.” After NAEA raised a number of concerns about the letter (more specifically, its tone, its content, and its target audience) to IRS, the agency posted a list of FAQs (frequently asked questions). These FAQs do not answer all of our questions (for instance, how many visits are anticipated and whether this number is any greater than the number of return preparer visits done as a matter of course for e-file purposes, etc.)

TaxMama® has seen one of the letters sent to an EA. It is harsh and condescending. Ignore the tone and pay attention to the substance. We have not yet heard from anyone targeted for an audit. If you are, please let us know and keep us posted on the progress and nature of the audit.

If you are a member of TaxMama’s® EA Exam Review Class you will get guidance and support.
